The goal of this evaluation is to determine written language ability level only. This consists of a 60 minute exam that measures the degree of mastery of grammar, syntax, spelling, English vocabulary and the candidate’s ability to write without mistakes.

English as a second language* or secondary language**

This evaluation measures the mastery level of a candidate whose first language is not English OR whose responsibilities are not restricted to English only. This evaluation entails a 60 minute oral and written exam.

* Second language: second language acquired or used.
** Secondary language: language other than the second language that is used occasionally.
